I was looking through this site and found several draft articles I wrote nearly a decade ago that I never published. This one was a list of links to official baby name data from governments around the globe. Most of the links were outdated, so I updated them. I also added a few countries.
Of course, one could spend a lot of time searching the web for these kinds of sites at a federal and regional level in every country. I may add other countries to this list in the future, but if you know of others, please feel free to post the link in the comments.
Ideally I’ve tried to link to official government sites that have published data on given names, usually annual popularity rankings of names from statistics bureaus.
Australia
Canada
Israel (and first names in the whole population here)
Lithuania (a second site from the official Lithuanian language institute)
United Kingdom
The records for the United States are from the Social Security Administration, and are searchable by many metrics, including by year and by state. The state records below come directly from the states from which I was able to find separate independent records. Sometimes these lists are the same, and sometimes they differ. This is because not everyone born in a state is registered for a social security number.
